An Opposition member of a special select parliamentary committee in Jamaica examining the proposed Casino Gaming Bill has raised concern about requirements set out in the legislation that mandate the training and licensing of employees in casinos.
Opposition member Phillip Paulwell on Thursday afternoon said his concerns surround section 30 of the bill that guides the operation, inspection and enforcement of casino gaming.
According to Mr. Paulwell, the authorities may encounter difficulties in getting full compliance for the licensing of employees which could force casino operators to import skilled casino workers.
However Executive Director of the Betting and Gaming and Lotteries Commission Derrick Peart is suggesting that special training programmes be set up in specified institutions to get full compliance.
The special select parliamentary committee has so far reviewed 45 of its 73 clauses in the Casino bill.
The committee has until February 9 to submit a final report to parliament.
